Throughout the book, there are several themes. One of the main ones ,though, is drugs. The main character, 17 year old, Bree, experiences many different encounters with drugs. She is addicted to ” Crank” ,or methamphetamine. She is going down hill with this drug she clearly cant live without. She calls it ” the monster”. She has her good and bad times with it but up to now, her personal and social life is just shattered. Parents, school, and friends are no longer on her mind all do to ”the Monster”.
